He holds a master’s in divinity (M.Div.) as well as a masters in pastoral counseling (MAPC), both through Asbury Theological Seminary. Gene is a retired pastor who spent 12 years of ministry in the local church. Currently, he is the founder and director of The Awakening Institute for Spiritual Formation, Spiritual Direction and Soul Care, which is a multi-faceted ministry for the training of spiritual directors, while providing classes and retreats for those wishing to explore Christian contemplative practices, which are designed for those seeking a deeper experience in our Lord Jesus Christ.
